I mediate the makers of this film were trying to build a serious movie and that’s what makes the movie even better! Cause while there is non-stop action galore it’s so unintentionally comic in it’s seriousness that you’ll have to view it at least 3 times to enjoy it all. A factual American classic that needs to be on a deluxe edition DVD.
For other films with memorable hair seek Chuck Norris’ power beard in INVASION U.S.A. and Vanilla Ice’s fossilized pompadour in Icy AS ICE.

OK, this is a review of the DVD. I’ve already reviewed this wonderful biker flick elsewhere on this spot and you fans deserve to know what you are paying for so read this before you race out and consume this crappy DVD release.
First of all, the DVD clearly states that is presents a Widescreeen and Fullscreen version. But then if you explore further into the specs listed, it also says the DVD is being presented in 1:33:1 which is a sneaky method of saying 4:3 or as we most understand that to be…..FULLSCREEN!
This DVD is a flipper, and on the unmarked side you salvage what appears to be a fullscreen presentation. Now, flip it over to the side that is actually marked “Widescreen” and you will procure NOT a widescreen version, but a fullscreen version that has been cropped at the top and the bottom so as to give the untrue appearance of being widescreen. But as you perceive, you will leer that key images in clear scenes are only 1/2 visible. It became definite when I got the tape measure out to confirm what I already suspected….cropped top and bottom. Shame shame shame.
The sound gets no props either. Again the specs assure you that this is a Dolby Surround audio, but it doesn’t sound like it. All the sound is to the front, and mostly directed to the center channel. My impression is that this is basically a “stereo” mixing that does nothing to enhance the action. The sound you hear in the surround speakers is unprejudiced residual noise, not distinguished else. You’ll have to listen to this one at rotund volume for conclude.
On the plus side, the DVD transfer is very crisp and smart. The images are gripping, and the colors are very deep. I’m terrified actually at the clarity of detail for such a lousy DVD treatment, but the video looks colossal. Nothing else in the package, no extras, no liner notes, no bios, nada. So there you go, recall this DVD because you cherish the movie, but don’t seize it expecting to be blown away by it cause you likely wont be unless you’re seeing it for the first time. 5 stars for the movie minus one pitiful star for this DVD.

Another Mario Bava masterpiece – THE WHIP AND THE BODY – has royally entered the DVD market thanks to an admirable treatment from VCI. If you are not aware that, under the pseudonym of John M. Feeble, is hiding Mario Bava and that 90% of the initial credits are also english pseudonyms of well (or less -) known italian actors or technicians, you could mistake THE WHIP AND THE BODY for a Hammer production. At least during the first 10 minutes.
Then, you would have certainly recognized the maestro touch ; who else could have filmed in 1963 a sadistic Christopher – Kurt – Lee whipping the lovely Daliah – Nevenka – Lavi who asks for more after each strike. I doubt Terence Fisher would have dared to shoot such scenes. Assume also of the delirious travelling of Tony Kendall whose face has a different colour each time he appears in the light of the corridor. Thank you once more VCI to let us luxuriate in all the subtleties of Mario Bava’s work on light.
Once again, the surprisingly rational Bava leaves room for a psychologic explanation at the ruin of THE WHIP AND THE BODY. Until his last movie – SHOCK -, the italian director will remind us that Cinema is a vast liar and that reality is so simple to interpret. This theme will be treated masterfully by Bavain in his last genial movie RABID DOGS.

In short, a DVD for your library.
While watching this `uncut’ European version of La Frusta e il corpo (1963) aka The Whip and the Body (1965), I had a hard time view unbiased what the heck was so controversial about it at the time of its release that it should have been hacked to pieces the plot it was by various editors (I judge the U.S. version ruin up being the most mutililated) …I guess it is objective difficult for me to fathom the seemingly excessive stringent nature of film censorship in state some thirty plus years ago, when the film was originally released…by today’s standards, the `shocking’ material is fairly smooth…but then I get a lot of things I think tame in the cinematic sense tend to have a stronger attain on less avid movie fans. Directed by Mario Bava (Gloomy Sabbath, Planet of the Vampires), the film stars Christopher Lee (Circus of Awe, Dracula Has Risen from the Grave), Daliah Lavi (Lord Jim, The Silencers), and Tony Kendall (Kiss Kiss, Demolish Destroy) . Also appearing is Gustavo De Nardo (Baron Blood), Harriet Medin (Schlock, Death Hurry 2000), Ida Galli (The Leopard), and Luciano Pigozzi (Yor, the Hunter from the Future) …objective a sign, if you’ve seen this film and don’t peep many of the names of the writers, crew or the supporting cast, that’s because it wasn’t unique for producers to require the usage of `American’ nom de plumes as it was deemed easier to schlep a film to the U.S. if it had familiar sounding names rather than `crazy’ names with more vowels than consonants…and example of this is the listed director John M. Extinct, which is actually a pseudonym aged by Mario Bava. Was this a product of American arrogance? Or a ruse traditional by European producers to more easily introduce their films into the lucrative American market?

The film begins with an older woman eyeing a glass case containing a dagger and roses (some people fair earn Hummel figurines), and then we scrutinize a lone figure on horseback arriving at a castle perched on cliff above a beach. The rider, known as Kurt Menliff (Lee), has arrived home, but not necessarily to the warmest of welcomes. Turns out Kurt was the cause of some `unpleasantness’ consuming the housekeeper’s daughter and her subsequent suicide by employ of the dagger we saw earlier (hence why the mother keeps it under glass, I notify) …anyway, Kurt claims his return was prompted by his desire to wish his brother Christian (Kendall) and his current wife Nevenka (Lavi) well, but the precise reason is because he wants to lay claim to what he believes is rightfully his (the land, the castle, etc.) as Kurt and Christian’s father, Count Menliff (De Nardo) isn’t in the best of health. By the device, did I mention that Kurt and his unusual sister-in-law Nevenka were somewhat of an item in the past? Oh, Nevenka claims she hates Kurt now, but we all know legal savor never dies, especially between spruce freaks (of which both Kurt and Nevenka are, given their cramped S&M adventure on the beach) . Soon after this there is a violent death (whose, you ask? I won’t say) and thus begins the steady plug demonstrate as them vengeful bones sight comeuppance from the living…
If you’re looking for buckets of blood and gallons of gross gore, you best turn around and maintain on keeping on as, while this is an Italian dread film, its not really of the normally visceral kind churned out by the likes of Lucio Fulci (City of the Living Dull), Dario Argento (Suspiria), Ruggero Deodato (Cannibal Holocaust), or even Bava (A Bay of Blood) himself…there is some violence, and even some blood, but what I mediate most insecure people at the time was the scene featuring the reaction of Nevenka as she was being flogged (she appeared to be having the huge O, if you derive my drift) …the movie may seem unimaginative, even slow, to some, but I notion of it more as deliberate, as Bava frail the element of dread as sort of a backdrop to focus on the outlandish relationship between Kurt and Nevenka, one I had a hard time notion not because it wasn’t clearly developed, but only because my believe, personal preferences in terms of romantic relationships don’t include such overt acts of dominance. A number of aspects stand out in this qualified production, the three most prominent being the performances, the direction, and the thoughtful development of the main characters. Lee does especially well (despite itsy-bitsy cover time) coming across more as an radiant, seductive, malevolent force of irascible rather than obnoxious character with a penchant for flogging. Lavi is also honorable as a woman tormented by the denial of her inner desires, exacerbated by the return of her ex-lover. The direction is such that it creates a testy, brooding, gothic atmosphere soaked with tension (some scenes were dragged out a cramped long for my tastes) that will maintain the attention patient viewers as the mystery unfolds, and the seemingly supernatural elements kick in…Bava does especially well presenting sometimes subtle, sometimes not so subtle, metaphorical life/death imagery that compliments the sage, adding to the overall production. Two other key elements is the difference of vibrant (objective short of gaudy) colors compared with the deep, gloomy, spooky shadows, along with the lush and sweeping musical derive. There are a couple of weaknesses, in my view, one being the unnecessary dubbing of Lee’s roar…why this was done I don’t understand. The person they got to do the dub does sound similar to Lee, but he couldn’t reproduce the commanding, authorative, and aristocratic tone normally reveal in Lee’s sigh. The other weakness was in the dialog itself…sometimes it was arrive perfect, and then sometimes it came off awkward, but perhaps this was due to the Italian actors having to lisp their lines in English…regardless, neither of these would be cause for me not to recommend this film to someone eager in one of the better (if not best) examples of European awe I’ve seen yet…

VCI Home Entertainment presents a very good-looking, wide camouflage (1.85:1), uncut European version of this film. There are signs of wear due to age (some lines, white specks in the black scenes), but overall the represent comes across very positive. The audio, presented in Dolby Digital mono, comes through well. Special features include musical tracks by composer Carlo Rustichelli aka Jim Murphy, an unique theatrical trailer, biographies, a photo gallery, and trailers for a couple of other Bava films including Planet of the Vampires (1965) and Blood & Unlit Lace (1964) . Also included is a commentary track by Tim Lucas, and editor for Video Watchdog. If you accumulate a chance, I would highly recommend listening to this commentary as Lucas is like a human computer when it comes to details and information about this, and other films in the genre. And it’s not that he unprejudiced spews forth facts, but he really seems to have a passionate, comprehensive, knowledgeable idea of the material that may provide a perspective on this film one may not gain from viewing the movie itself…four stars for the movie, and one extra for the commentary.

By the device, if I were one of the characters in this legend, I probably would have chucked that dagger (you know, the one that kept turning up and killing people? ) in the ocean…I would have also secured some chains around the gates of that crypt, as it seemed a common area for many to visit…

The Perfect Holiday is not necessarily a awful movie but its far from a qualified one too. While I care for a movie that does not try to be offensive and wants to be sure there is a thin line from being a microscopic schmaltzy to laying it on genuine thick. The movie is not unwatchable. It has a talented all-star cast that do a decent job acting but the script is hackneyed and cheesy to a fault plus its comely bland.

The story: Gabriell Union plays Nancy, a newly divorced woman who’s daughter overhears her conversation about what she wants from a man: a compliment. The daughter goes to a mall Santa(played by Morris Chestnut) named Benjamin and wishes that her mom gets a compliment by her man. Benjamin(Chestnut) gives Nancy a compliment and soon they open to date. Problems arise when Nancy’s naive son, John John gets annoyed by Benjamin because the itsy-bitsy tyke misses his arrogant and thoughtless wannabe-rapper father J-Jizzy(played by Charlie Murphy) who would rather be big than be with his family. Then things fetch even more complicated for the relationship between Nancy and Benjamin when J-Jizzy asks for Benjamin, who also sings to describe with him. Queen Latifah plays Mrs Christmas, an angel who is also the narrator of the movie.

Opinion: Positive: this movie is not poor. Negative: but its not memorable either. Positive: it has an all-star cast. Negative: they are all wasted on a script that pulls every Christmas cliche out of the book.
Positive: The Perfect Holiday is earnest and has a heart. Negative: its syrupy to the point of cheesiness. Positive: it makes an pain at humor. Negative: The humor misses more than it hits. Positive: Its the least offensive Christmas comedy ever made. Negative: It wallows in mediocrity like pigs do in mud. Positive: Its mammoth to recognize a movie especially an African-American film that is not based on sex and violence. Negative: Its kind of bland and the schmaltzy scenes are a bit great. All in all I would recommend this movie to you if you want to study a Christmas movie starring African Americans that is not offensive but Last Holiday and This Christmas are grand better. Perfect Holiday is far from a stinker but when compared to tall movies like This Christmas Soul Food, The Wood, The Inkwell, Savor Jones, Brown Sugar etc Perfect Holiday can easily be forgotten.
I like Gabrielle Union and Morris Chestnut BUT The Perfect Holiday was not perfect. The yarn line was CUTE but not written for a major motion represent. This type of movie would have been sizable for Lifetime or a movie that goes straight to DVD format. I gave the movie 2 stars because the cast was well picked but the myth line was lackluster.

This unbelievable fantasy account stars Johnny Depp as a not-quite-real teenager who was built by an eccentric inventor. The broken-down man died before he could achieve him, so Edward has knife blades where his fingers would be. A well-meaning Avon lady (Diane Wiest) finds him living alone in his crumbling castle, and brings him home to live with her family, which includes daughter Kim (Winona Ryder) . Edward is naive and frightened, but so sweet and agreeable that he soon becomes the darling of the neighborhood. He is smitten with Kim, which angers her bully of a boyfriend (Anthony Michael Hall) .

Diane Wiest is perfect as the ditsy and always-cheerful mom. Ryder is convincing as a selfish and ghastly teen. Hall is the villian you savor to disapprove. The star, of course, is Johnny Depp. As Edward, he is painfully afraid and lovelorn; his performance is so heart-wrenchingly resplendent that you ache for him in every scene. Covered with white make-up and with only a few words of dialogue, Depp proves he is a very talented actor. The fantastic and quite aged Vincent Imprint, as Edward’s loving creator, will surely bring a dash to your study.
This completely fresh film blends comedy, fantasy, and romance to manufacture a sentimental fairy yarn that both teens and adults will bask in. It is a heart-breaker; bring your hankie.

Every director probably has one movie that he pours fragment of himself into. For Spielberg, it was ET, Lucas had American Graffiti. Here, Tim Burton poured into the soul of Edward Scissorhands the world of an outsider, a creation of an musty inventor (wonderfully played by Vincent Heed) who passes on before he can enact Edward(wonderfully played by Johnny Depp) . Edward is one day discovered by Peg Boggs, a enthralling Avon lady, who takes Edward home to suburbia, a community of multi-colored houses that could only approach from the mind of Burton and production designer Bo Welch. Danny Elfman delivers probably his most attractive acquire in this portray. The DVD looked like it would be incredile with what was announced, but it would have to lose starts for what I thought: 1) Audio commentary by Burton and Elfman: Both of these guys do not talk all the procedure through the film, (though it does sound a microscopic better than Devlin and Emmerich on ID4’s DVD & Barry Levinson and Tommy LEe Jones on Men In Sad, who chatter on like inane movie theater patrons) . But most of the time I found myself wondering when they would relate again. Burton probably speaks 12-15 times through most of the movie, but it sounds more like he’s having petite afterthoughts. Elfman’s audio plays after definite music segments are done (his background music plays over the dialogue so we hear outright how it sounds) . 2) Tim Burton notion art: after seeing The Tarzan Collector’s Edition, this was a letdown, with only about 7 pieces of art (5 concepts of Edward, 1 of the Inventor, and 1 of Edward’s position in the mansion’s attic) . 3) The featurette talking about the film is also a letdown, as there is nothing that was reall considerable (I was really looking forward to hearing how Stan Winston Studios made the Scissorhands props) . The only chilly essential is the interactive menu, made like a pop-up book of the mansion Edward is found in. If you are looking to salvage a gargantuan movie, accumulate this DVD. If you are into those that promise fantastic extra features, pass this one up.

Compelling in style and rich in character detail, “The King” is sometimes a abominable mans “American Beauty”. It centers on Elvis, a young man recently discharged from the Navy. He speedily finds that, as he is looking for his biological father that he has never met. What he does not bank on is the fact the man is married, has a family, and is an evalengical type minister who of course, strayed succor in his day. Stoic in stature is this man, played by William Damage. He hastily lets Elvis know that he wants nothing to do with him. There is only one problem: Elvis has already started flirting with the mans daughter (yes, that would accomplish them “half” brother and sis…end with me here) who is unaware of what Elvis and her fathers conversation entailed the day Elvis came to town. Elvis gets a job as a pizza deliveryman and continues to strive to find the heart of the girl, whose name is Malerie. Things inaugurate to escalate when Malerie’s brother confronts Elvis and demands he finish seeing his sister. The film has a gritty cinematic appeal as it shows you a long established social landscape based in Corpus Christi, Texas. Hot days and roads that stretch on forever dot the horizon while in the foreground you have the irony of the beloved preacher whose message of the lord starts sounding shaky as his past unravels. Don’t deem for a second that last sentence is what this movie is about though, various themes of family, trust, and betrayal are all woven in nicely. The character of Elvis (played by Gael Garcia Bernal) is cross in simplicity as his aloof, seemingly polite demeanor slowly gives method to a considerable darker side, which continues to a brutal climax spicy him and Malerie’s brother.
Follow Elvis as he goes from Sailor to Seducer. Pell James does an valid portrayal of Malerie, who is not your typical angst-ridden and rebellious “preachers daughter” but a soft spoken and sweet girl who, although naive, tries to glean strength throughout the film to deal with the situations that confront her. The film does not quite have the action that the trailers purport, but overall its never predictable and we inspect a lot of the humanity and irony that the actors bring to life in this tale.
This sad and unsettling allegory, which mixes very poor behavior with Christian evangelism, features two very dazzling performances from its leads Gael GarcÍa Bernal and William Damage, but this yarn of the prodigal son returning to his roots never really picks up steam beyond it’s initial exposition. Consequently, we have a film that features a potentially immense sage, but for the most allotment, is too stultifyingly slow-paced to really design that distinguished of an impact.

We first meet Elvis (Bernal), a twenty-something drifter, who has objective been released from the navy. He arrives in Corpus Christi, Texas, hopefully seeking to reconnect with his estranged father (Injure) who unknowingly fathered him. It turns out that his father is now an evangelical pastor with a nice family and predictably, and although he’s civil to Elvis, he wants nothing to do with his illegitimate son.
Dejected, Elvis stays on in the City, rooming in a run-down, crummy hotel and obtaining employment as a pizza delivery boy. But some unstoppable, Machiavellian force begins to drive the young man and he begins to precise revenge on the pastor, starting by seducing his daughter a radiant 16-year-old (Pell James) in all her Catholic innocent glory. Hold in mind he is seducing his half-sister.
But this seduction is nothing compared to Elvis has in store for the holy man’s other geek son Paul (Paul Dano), a gawky teenage Christian rock singer and campaigner for colorful gain. Is Elvis unbiased a mild-mannered, untroubled sociopath who is picking on an innocent family? Or is there perhaps more substance tedious his motivations?
Director James Marsh has some salubrious ideas here, embedding his main protagonist with a Ripley-like amoral sensibility, yet what he’s eventually trying to say is never quite definite. Perhaps he’s juxtaposed the radiant line existing between redemption and damnation and he certainly throws in some sharp ideas, strong characterizations, and a couple of sensational twists.
However, he obscures these aspects with muddled and too slowly paced directing and a surprisingly vapid central character – a bit of a Johnny one heed – that even the talented García Bernal cannot overcome. The anecdote is indeed rich and troubling – and somewhat spirited – but the director’s choices about what scenes to converse and what to leave ambiguous feel a bit arbitrary to say the least, and the ending especially feels a bit flat and perfunctory and not as profound as it should have been.
Still, Distress and Bernal build this unfocused film watchable. Hurt’s faith has a rugged intensity, and it’s a favorable bet he’s more arrogant than your occupy pastor. Yet the actor also stays away from portraying him as the devilish fire-and-brimstone preacher, the stereotype that the character could have so easily fallen into.
Bernal in his peaceful device is as charming and as sensual as ever – his looks lend themselves well to this kind of role. But the character of Elvis objective lacks the emotional gravitas and weight that say the terrific Ed Norton bought to his disconsolate transient cowboy in Down in the Valley, a distinguished better film that The King bears a noteworthy similarity to. Mike Leonard October 06.

During the slither, he becomes infatuated with Abbie Irving (De Havilland), but she wrongly blames him for the death of her careless kid brother……DODGE CITY is a colourful and action-packed Western that effect great of the Warners stock company to valid exhaust and contains the definitive barroom brawl scene. Flynn felt somewhat miscast in Westerns (and perhaps rightfully so), but this was one of the best. What the film lacks in account, it more than made up for with graceful Technicolor, a memorable win by Max Steiner and the ultimate barroom brawl scene – plus Alan Hale and Ann Sheridan in encourage. Flynn and the notoriously tyrannical Hungarian director Michael Curtiz made 10 movies together; but Flynn felt that Curtiz demanded grand too noteworthy of him (he also blamed him for the death of a halt friend during the shooting of THE CHARGE OF THE LIGHT BRIGADE in 1936) . Flynn was in care for with the lady-like DeHavilland but he was married at the time and was unwilling to court her in anything vaguely resembling a primitive manner – which made any conceivable consummation between the two a frustrating matter!

Fun,humorous, even naughty, with a stalwart hero (Flynn, dastardly villains (Bruce Cabot and Victor Jory), well-behaved and amusing sidekicks (Alan Hale and Guinn “Gargantuan Boy” Williams), and a woman worth fighting and dying for (Olivia de Havilland) .

The documentary does go underground to present you the underground tunnel system dilapidated by cast members and park management that keeps the display running above. A nice attribute to this documentary is how it shows the inner workings of WDW’s notorious daily parades. While seemingly simple, you accept a taste of how these parades are, in and of themselves, a technological wonder.
You’re also treated to a miniature first peer at Expedition Everest and the first free walking animatronic, Lucky the Walking Dinosaur. If you were unable to explore this invention at Animal Kingdom last year, you can win a taste for the improbable section of work this animatronic is (so fantastic that it was featured in Time Magazine as one of the best inventions of 2003) .
All in all, this DVD is a expansive contrivance to familiarize yourself with the inner workings of the resort with a lot of current (as well as some frail) material for Disney fans.
I rated this only four stars because the audio track on my DVD was out of sync with the video. It appears that the film to DVD transfer didn’t compensate for the film audio being several frames ahead of the images.
On the other hand I now have images of the Utilidors. I managed to consume two backstage tours of Walt Disney World during the 1990’s. The Keys to the Kingdom tour and the three-park Backstage Magic tour were expensive and took up an entire day–but I notion them worth the misfortune and expense. It took me three years to book the Backstage Magic tour, and for several generous reasons I didn’t fetch to occupy home photographs of the backstage areas such as the Utilidors. Unique Marvels provided me video images to withhold these distinguished infrastructure of Walt’s utopian village modern in my mind.
I learned about the unique Expedition Everest trip, and how the Tree of Life was grown by the Imagineers. I fancy the Monorail system and the Contemporary Resort–featured! This DVD lets me tour Walt Disney World and its secrets in the comfort of my home, without flying cross-country and putting up with crowds. It isn’t “the dependable thing,” but this DVD allows me to scratch my Walt Disney World itch until I derive the time and a couple of thousand dollars to return to Orlando.

Isaac Hayes is an terrible actor, and Jonathan Tierston has only done one other thing aside from the first one, and that was in 1987. He is definitely not an actor. Vincent Pastore does a really salubrious job. I was disappointed that Aunt Martha didn’t create a cameo. She did something in 2006, but other than that, only the current.
If you were a fan of the first movie, I believe you’ll totally dig this one.
Be Careful! I impartial noticed a review on here stating that this movie was the elephantine version of that craptacular “Sleepaway Camp: The Survivor” footage that was an extra in some of the Survival Kit Box Sets. Not many people appreciate watching “ancient gloomy and white” movies anymore. The claims I hear most are that there isn’t enough action, there are no special effects, and the plots are monotonous. Many of those same complaints can be made about recent movies as well. The biggest disagreement is that you can’t acquire your whole family to peruse those films because of all the swearing, violence, and sex whereas a family can delight in watcing an extinct film together without any disaster of having to blind the youngsters eyes and hide their ears.
AMAZING ADVENTURE is not a gigantic movie; it’s unprejudiced the usual accelerate of the mill adore fable. However, there is one exception that makes the movie a par above the rest: Cary Grant. I have yet to study a awful movie in which he acted. Not only that, but Grant had the rare ability to hold even the most mudane movie moments and transform them into cinematic magic. Such is the case with Fabulous ADVENTURE. The set of the movie revolves around a rich young man who has inherited a colossal fortune. He finds himself becoming ill and seeks the back and advice of a doctor. The doctor tells him that he is physically fit, but is affected by the disease of money. He places a bet with the young man, lively him to work for one year by his believe means and not by using his inherited fortune. What follows is the “incredible adventure” as Grant moves from one job to the next, learning lessons of humility, and falling in adore. Youngsters may score the movie dull, but adults will probably devour it and the lessons the film instills can’t be heard enough in contemporary society.
If I was ever amazed by an inexpensive DVD, this was the one. Distinct, time has taken its toll on the film print. Certain, the transfer to DVD could be better, in fact it could have been considerable better. But, IF you are able to ignore some natural degradation, a runt grain, and a couple of minor skips(not enough to interfer with continuity) YOU ARE IN FOR A Dependable TREAT!
With its “Depression Era” overtones, this movie exemplifies many forgotten attitudes, ambitions and values of the 1930’s. It presents positive character lessons that are timeless in relevance. Understanding it once, and then belief it again with your grandparents/grandchildren. You may be surprised by their comments.

For some staunch comedy pay particular attention to the apartment fight scene. You might have to push the “stay” button until you end laughing.
My guess is that this DVD will be highly enjoyed by all ages under 10, over 50, and all those between 11 and 49 who are able to inspect beyond the purely superficial.
